A Visual Guide to the "Smart Bag" and "Alfred App"

In the United States, over 750,000 people live with an ostomy, a life-altering surgical procedure that can present unique challenges. The challenge was to bridge the gap between the potential of the “Smart Bag” and “Alfred app” and users’ understanding of how these tools could integrate into and improve their lives. To solve this, I led the ideation and development of a series of engaging training videos. The goal was to empower ostomy patients and app users to maximize the features, seamlessly weaving education with entertainment.

My Role and Responsibilities

My role centered on demystifying the health app’s complex functionalities and features through compelling visual storytelling. By conceptualizing, animating, and delivering a series of engaging animations, I translated abstract data and processes into easily digestible narratives. These animations served as a crucial bridge, guiding users through the app’s interface and empowering them to understand and utilize its full potential for improved health management.

Goals

The primary goal of the new animated section was to significantly enhance user engagement and drive increased interaction compared to the static FAQ page. By transforming complex information into visually captivating animations, we aimed to create a more dynamic and accessible learning experience. We anticipated that this shift would result in higher click-through rates, indicating a greater willingness among users to explore and understand the app’s features. Ultimately, the success of this initiative would be measured by a tangible increase in user interaction and a demonstrable improvement in knowledge retention compared to the previous, less engaging FAQ format.
